Bar Surya, in London, was the first, and now there's Club Watt in Rotterdam. These are sustainable nightclubs, from the low-flush toilets to the bar counters made of recycled cell phones. But the most ingenius part is the dance floor itself: it's made of special crystals that repurpose the dancers' energy into the air-conditioning system. As the London club owner describes it: "As people dance, the crystals are pressed together, it creates a current, the current then powers the electricity which powers up the light, and the air conditioning." Just another nightclub fad? Perhaps. But any company who thinks green measures are just targeting a fringe consumer needs to take notice, now that even partiers just trying to let loose on a Saturday night are choosing sustainable options.
